23. EGER, MÉSZ- AND NYERGES HILLS

The beehive rocks of Nyerges and Mész Hill are located in the eastern side valley of the Ostoros stream on the outskirts of Eger.

The top of the beehive rock on the western side of Nyerges Hill has been shaped into a saddle. Bowl-shaped depressions, channels, and holes have been carved into the surface of the plateau. There are 24 niches and niche impressions on the southeastern wall of the rock formation and on the separate block.

On the southern slope of Mész Hill, there are three beehive rocks of various sizes, most of which have worn-out niches. A rock chamber has also been carved into the rock.

The area is a protected natural monument and can be visited freely on the Mész- and Nyerges Hill educational trail built by the Beehive Rocks Association.
