What is "UNESCO KULTURWEIT"?
Kulturweit is the international educational program of the German Commission for UNESCO, providing international nature protection volunteer services for German young people aged 18 to 26, within the framework of Germany's foreign cultural relations and education policy, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. During a voluntary social year or semester spent in parts of the natural world heritage, UNESCO biosphere reserves, or geoparks, young adults can gain experience in the field of sustainable development.
Since 2021, the Bükk National Park Directorate has been hosting Kulturweit volunteers. In semester cycles, a total of 8 Kulturweit volunteers have actively supported the Directorate’s daily activities, primarily in nature management tasks and in promoting the Bükk Region UNESCO Global Geopark.
